My first ever encounter with sweet potato fries was, lets say, less than desirable. I tried these fries in the cafeteria at MSU. They served them with a side of syrup, which, at the time, I thought looked OK, but actually ended up tasting kind of gross.
Since then, over time, I’ve been slowly acquainting my palette with the sweet potato in various forms. Thanks to this perseverance, I have come to enjoy eating this mysterious root-vegetable. Today I made another attempt at sweet potato fries, the way they were meant to be eaten. Spicy.
But seriously though, I could barely get myself to stop eating these. They were so freaking delicious!
I paired these delicious fries with a vegan grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, also delicious.
The Recipe: (From The Pixelated Crumb)
1 large sweet potato
1 tsp chili powder (I accidentally added a tbsp… oops!)
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
Slice the potato into thin strips, place in a medium bowl, and coat evenly with olive oil and then add spices.
Warning: Insanely hot! (But also insanely delicious.)
